St. Francis Pet Care holds ribbon cutting ceremony for new clinic

April 10, 2019

Gainesville, Fla. – On Sunday, March 24th, St. Francis Pet Care held a ribbon cutting ceremony  for the opening of its new clinic, built by Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI). The 2,100 square foot facility will aid St. Francis Pet Care’s mission to provide free non-emergency veterinary care, medications, and food for the animals of veterans and low-income households.

The new clinic will include a large observation room, six private exam rooms, an outdoor waiting area, and office space, all of which took about two years to complete. St. Francis Pet care has been treating around 800 animals, and expects to be able to serve 200 new patients in the new space over the next few years. The new facility has more than doubled the square footage of the clinic’s previous building.

Construction was made possible by a grant from PetSmart Charities, donated services from CPPI, Walker Architects, CHW Professional Consultants, and GSE Engineering & Consulting, Inc. and donated materials and labor from multiple trade partners.

The clinic is staffed entirely by volunteers, including veterinarians, University of Florida medical students and University of Florida Veterinary Medicine program students, and volunteers from the Gainesville community. The clinic opened its doors to patients on April 9th.
