CPPI Breaks Ground at LewisGale Medical Center Blue Hills ER

April 29, 2021

Roanoke, Va. – Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI) joined together with members of the LewisGale Regional Health System and the Roanoke community to break ground on the LewisGale Medical Center Blue Hills FSER on Monday.

The brand new 10,000-square-foot free-standing emergency department will be the second of its kind in Southwest Virginia, according to a news release by the Lewis Gale Medical Center.

The facility will help expand LewisGale’s reach of quality medical services in the Roanoke Valley by featuring eight private treatment rooms, X-ray services, a CT scanner, digital ultrasound imaging, and an on-site laboratory. For ease of accessibility, it will also have walk-in and ambulance entrances. It will employ over 30 staff members, including emergency physicians and nurses, and operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, according to the release.

“With a commitment to patient care as our focus, we are filling a gap by bringing high-quality emergency services to this part of the Greater Roanoke Valley which has seen significant growth,” Lance Jones, market president of the health system, said in the release. “This facility will also have the same advanced medical technologies and life-saving services that are available at our main ER on the Medical Center campus and at our freestanding Cave Spring ER. With this new ER, patients who live and work in this area will be able to receive services faster, resulting in better health outcomes.”

CPPI constructed the LewisGale Cave Spring Emergency Room in 2018. The freestanding ER concept allows patients to receive the care they need closer to home, and with reduced wait times. Cave Spring was LewisGale’s first freestanding ER, which had a significant impact on reducing ER volume at LewisGale Medical Center.

Blue Hills ER is located at 1423 West Ruritan Road, and will open in early 2022. CPPI has partnered with Hereford Dooley Architects of Nashville on the project. The LewisGale Regional Health System is part of the HCA Virginia healthcare network.
