CPPI’s UF Innovate | The Hub Phase II certified LEED Gold

December 5, 2018

Gainesville, Fla. – The second phase of CPPI’s UF Innovate | The Hub at the University of Florida recently received LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). This is the 78th LEED certified project at the University of Florida, maintaining the university’s standard for the most LEED certified projects of any public university in the country.

With The Hub’s second phase expansion, which opened in January, the building’s size doubled to 100,000 square feet and now serves about 50 Gainesville startup companies. The first phase of the project, of which CPPI was the construction manager, was also LEED Gold certified. Features of the space, including laboratory access, advanced audiovisual capabilities, and flexible office space, provide customized support for each company’s mission.

The LEED Certification program ensures that projects are more cost effective and environmentally friendly. Projects are measured against 57 distinct criteria in the areas of sustainable sites, location & transportation, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials & resources, indoor environmental quality, innovation, and regional priority.

“CPPI is proud to have a long history of successfully delivering LEED certified projects. The Hub marks the 24th LEED certified project CPPI has completed at the University of Florida”, said CPPI Project Director Jake Plein.

“This project was especially rewarding to build because of the many startup businesses that have grown out of the incubator facility. Our project team really tapped into the collaborative and innovative spirit of the facility, which helped fuel us through its completion” Plein continued.
