CPPI’s Daytona State College Palm Coast Project to Accommodate Additional Nursing Students

March 12, 2021

Palm Coast, Fla. – The Alan Smolen Center remodel project, overseen by Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI) and DLR Group, will provide space for 90 additional students at Daytona State College’s nursing program once complete, according to an article in the Palm Coast Observer.

Located at the college’s Flagler County campus, the 16,660 square-foot renovation will consist of the complete demolition and rebuild of the interior, deck, and roof. Office and general classrooms situated around the facility’s amphitheater will be transformed into a state-of-the-art nursing education facility. It will feature three upgraded classrooms, four nursing suites with control rooms for monitoring, and offices to enhance the college’s healthcare education curriculum.

“Students living in Palm Coast and the surrounding areas in Flagler county will be able to receive state-of-the-art nursing education at a nursing dedicated complex,” Dr. Colin Chesley, Associate Vice President of DSC’s College of Health & Public Services, said in a statement. “They will be able to start and complete the entire program here and will be able to transition into local healthcare facilities to work.”

CPPI began construction on the renovation in November, with demolition reaching completion in late December. Recently, the roofing membrane and interior framing have wrapped up. Now MEP rough-in is underway. Permanent power has been completed and air conditioning is scheduled to be operational by late March. Finishes will then follow.

The CPPI team is excited to have the first phase of the project completed in spring, just in time for the Palm Coast Songwriters Festival, which the amphitheater hosts each year. The facility will reach final completion in early summer.
