CPPI Sponsors Alachua Habitat for Humanity Home Built by Santa Fe College Construction Students
Gainesville, Fla — Construction students and apprentices at Santa Fe College’s Charles R. Perry Construction Institute have built a new house for Alachua Habitat for Humanity, sponsored by Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI). The house was delivered to its permanent destination site at 334 NE 20th Terrace, Gainesville, FL 32641, on Thursday, June 13th.
To celebrate this achievement, a Home Send-Off Celebration took place on Wednesday, June 12th at the Santa Fe College’s Charles R. Perry Construction Institute. During this event, speakers from CPPI, Alachua Habitat, and Santa Fe College highlighted the unique partnership between these three organizations. Attendees were encouraged to write messages of congratulations, hope, or scripture to the new homeowner, which he saw while the house was being delivered. These heartfelt messages hidden in the walls will bring additional hope, love, strength, and community to the new home.
“CPPI is proud to partner with Alachua Habitat for Humanity and Santa Fe College on our third whole house sponsorship. This unique collaboration provides an affordable, quality-built home for a local family while allowing local building construction students to apply what they’ve learned in a truly meaningful way. We are also proud to honor Mr. Perry’s legacy as our company continues to partner with Santa Fe College and the construction institute that bears his name,” said CPPI President Brian Leslie.
Built by students at the college, this home provides them with valuable real-world experience that benefits the community. The house is constructed in two sections at the institute, with each section transported to the site separately. Following this, Alachua Habitat partners and volunteers will add a front porch, back porch, driveway, landscaping, and any other finishing touches.
Future homeowner Toikeith will work alongside CPPI team members and other volunteers to complete the house, which is expected to be finished in the fall. Toikeith, a proud uncle to 14 nephews and nieces, looks forward to cooking meals in his new kitchen and hosting his family, especially his mother, seeing this as a christening of sorts for his new home.
