CPPI Completes UF Health Surgical Center – The Oaks

September 29, 2020

Gainesville, Fla. – Charles Perry Partners (CPPI) recently completed the UF Health Surgical Center – The Oaks.

A leading-edge surgical center for eye and ear, nose and throat patients, the facility is the second phase of UF Health The Oaks, a reimagined 139,000-square-foot former Sears space transformed into a premier health care facility now offering comprehensive ophthalmology (eye specialties), otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat, including allergy) and audiology services.

With the 23,500-square-foot surgical facility now open, patients can have all of their eye and ENT needs met in one location. The facility features a family consult room, a waiting room, five operating rooms, and 19 pre-op and post-anesthesia care units. Radiology services, including full MRIs, X-rays and CT scans, are all available on-site.

UF Health Shands CEO Ed Jimenez said the opening of the surgical center is the capstone of a strategy that began years ago as ever greater numbers of patients from throughout Florida and the region sought out UF Health’s ophthalmology and otolaryngology services, according to a press release by UF Health News.

The clinical side of UF Health The Oaks, which opened in January as Phase 1, features 87 exam rooms and 15 procedure rooms, including laser rooms, eight treatment rooms and 10 sound booths across the three practices.

The opening of the UF Health Surgical Center allows physicians to offer a range of procedures all in one location, instead of at several different sites throughout UF Health as was previously the case. Common ENT and allergy procedures that will now be accessible to patients at the facility include tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, ear tube procedures and sinus surgeries.

The facility is also conveniently located just off Interstate 75, and offers more than 500 parking spaces and easy access to shopping and dining. Patients can also shop for eyeglasses, contact lenses and hearing aids at two stores adjacent to the practices.

CPPI, working with UF Health leaders and Brookfield Properties, the mall owner, have successfully moved crucial medical services into the heart of the community while invigorating Gainesville’s most popular shopping area with a distinctive, visually inspiring health care destination.

UF Health and CPPI have a long history of working together. In mid-2018, CPPI completed the UF Health Springhill Building III, the latest addition to the Springhill health care campus on 39th Avenue in Northwest Gainesville.

“This has been a truly amazing project. I think back to when the CPPI team walked through Sears in the fall of 2018, and look at it now. It has been transformed into a leading-edge health care facility conveniently located off the interstate, and now provides specialized health care to the North Central Florida community and beyond. We held our first team-building session in the area that was once an automotive center. Now, it’s a brand new radiology and surgical suite that will serve so many. I look forward to teaming with UF Health again for the opportunity to help provide innovative and comprehensive health care for the community,” said CPPI Project Director Jake Plein.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, all patients and visitors at UF Health The Oaks facilities are asked to wear a face mask and are screened upon entering. The screening process includes a few brief questions and a temperature check upon entering.
