CPPI Completes Silver Pines Academy, Final Phase of OCPS ESE Campus Consolidation

August 26, 2021

Orlando, Fla. – Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI) recently finished the Silver Pines Academy K-12 Learning Center, which opened on August 10, the first day of fall classes in the Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) district.

Located at 1900 Matterhorn Drive in Orlando, Fla., this brand-new, 74,713 square-foot facility serves students with behavioral disorders, according to OCPS.

Providing capacity for more than 150 students and staff, the school features 42 classrooms and multipurpose labs – including a music lab, a culinary arts lab, an industrial arts lab, a tool shop, and various other life skills labs.  It also hosts two cafeterias with performance stages, two media centers, two fully equipped science labs, and a 3,000 square-foot gymnasium.

Silver Pines Academy K-12 Learning Center is Phase II in the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Campus Consolidation project.

Phase I met completion with the opening of Magnolia School on the same campus last August. The new 70,674 square-foot Magnolia School, a replacement facility, is an education center serving students with mental, developmental, and physical challenges, according to an OCPS news release.

The cutting-edge facility provides a capacity for 157 students and features 26 classrooms and multipurpose labs. A culinary arts lab, agriculture lab, life skills lab, commercial laundry lab, small home economics lab, and a sensory room are just a few of the types of educational enrichment atmospheres and curriculums offered in the school. It also hosts a media center with a CCTV studio, a multipurpose room, a cafeteria with a performance stage, a 1,500 square-foot greenhouse, and a single secure, public entrance.

The two-school campus also features a new and expanded parking lot, with 318 parking spots, and two new drop-off loops for students.

Phase III of the ESE Campus Consolidation project was also completed this month, which brings Magnolia School a new, fully-certified all-weather running track, allowing the school to plan for hosting future Central Florida Special Olympics events.

“It’s been a true pleasure working with Orange County Public Schools to create such a unique and sizable campus with facilities devoted to the enrichment of the ESE curriculum. We look forward to many more projects with OCPS,” said CPPI Project Director John Weaver.
