CPPI Completes Prairie View Elementary Renovation, Starts Up Idylwild Elementary Construction

Gainesville, Fla. – Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI) recently completed a 72,000 square-foot renovation of Prairie View Elementary School in order to bring students back into the facility after several years of it being unoccupied.

A key element of the Prairie View Elementary School renovation was a full-scale HVAC upgrade, including a new chiller, 38 new rooftop units, three new air handling units, and the replacement of all Variable Air Volume systems. New ceilings were installed, and the facility was given fresh paint on the interior and exterior. Much of the flooring was replaced, and the remaining flooring was repaired. All door hardware was replaced and new exterior doors were installed.

Security upgrades include a new front-office access control system and a new intercom system. Exterior fencing was installed around the entire campus, including new security to control access to campus.

In addition, all of the facility’s lighting was replaced with energy-efficient LED lights. A new walkway canopy was installed at the bus loop to protect student and staff from the elements. New data outlets were also installed to enable more computer and network capabilities. New ADA compliant water fountains were also installed as well as other necessary ADA code upgrades.

In the kitchen, all new refrigeration systems in the cooler and freezer were installed. Other existing equipment from Idylwild Elementary School was moved in. The kitchen hood and associated Ansul System was renovated.

Also on the facility’s campus, the parking areas and on-campus roads were resurfaced. Basketball goals were replaced, and the surface of the outdoor sports courts were painted. Three new play areas were also installed, and trees and bushes were also pruned to update the landscaping.

With a capacity of more than 530 students, the renovation of the Prairie View Elementary “swing school” is part of a larger reconstruction project of Idylwild Elementary School. CPPI has begun construction at the Idylwild Elementary School campus. The project will consist of new classrooms and a cafeteria at the school, as well as an expanded and updated parking lot and bus loop.

In the meantime, Prairie View Elementary has been renamed as “Idylwild Elementary School” and will have all of the students from Idylwild Elementary attend school there, while their school receives necessary renovations and new construction.

CPPI partnered with the architectural firm Paul Stresing Associates, Inc. on the project.
