CPPI Celebrates Phase 1 Completion of Orange Park Medical Center Bed Tower Expansion Project
Orange Park, Fla. – Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI) recently celebrated the completion of Phase 1 of the Orange Park Medical Center (OPMC) Bed Tower Expansion project, an HCA Healthcare facility in Orange Park, a suburb of Jacksonville, Fla.
Just as Florida has begun to ease some of its restrictions at health care facilities in response to the coronavirus pandemic, OPMC has opened a new 5,800 square foot space featuring patient registration, outpatient testing and imaging services. The hospital is following a protection plan to prevent exposure of COVID-19 and keep their colleagues, physicians, patients and visitors safe, according to a news release issued by the facility. This phase also has more than 2,000 square feet of shell space ready for any future needs.
This multi-phased project will add 101,435 square-feet and four floors over the top of the medical center’s existing emergency department. This will give OPMC a total of five stories once complete. The second and third floors will provide shell space for future build-out opportunities while the fourth and fifth floors will each have 24 private rooms for medical and surgical patients.
This expansion is predicted to create about 100 new jobs and bring the hospital’s total number of licensed beds to 365, according to The Florida Times-Union. The final phases of the project are slated for completion in late 2020. CPPI has partnered with the architect TMPartners, PLLC on the project.
“It’s an honor to participate in this milestone project that will not only allow for the expanded care of patients within the community, but also help prepare Orange Park Medical Center for expanding and planning for the future,” said CPPI Senior Project Manager Rich Pritt.
In addition to the tower project, CPPI is also building a 17,501 square-foot kitchen expansion and renovation, and a 5,116 square-foot central energy plant (CEP) expansion and renovation on the medical center’s campus.
The kitchen will be completely renovated and expanded, adding a new loading dock, fully upgraded kitchen, seasonal outdoor dining space and expanded inside dining space to serve the expanding campus and its visitors. The center’s CEP addition and renovation will expand the chiller plant and cooling tower yard. This renovation will replace and upgrade all existing cooling equipment and add additional equipment to allow the facility to maintain its cooling capabilities as it expands.
