CPPI and DCPS Break Ground on Highlands Elementary School Campus Renewal Project

May 19, 2023

Jacksonville, Fla. – Duval County Public Schools and Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI) joined the community on May 17 to celebrate the groundbreaking of the highly anticipated Highlands Elementary School Campus Renewal project.

The transformative project aims to consolidate the existing multiple-building campus into a single, state-of-the-art elementary school facility. The centerpiece of the project is a two-story, 91,000-square-foot building that will house essential areas such as administration, media center, and cafetorium. The building will boast a total of 41 classrooms, including specialized spaces for pre-K, kindergarten, primary, intermediate, and exceptional student education (ESE), along with six dedicated skills labs for art, science, computer, maker space, and music. The campus will also feature a vibrant courtyard area with multiple playgrounds and a covered physical education area.

In addition to the new construction, three existing buildings will undergo renovations and be seamlessly incorporated into the overall floor plan. The existing media center will be transformed into pre-K and kindergarten classrooms, the art/music room will become a modernized kitchen, and the multipurpose room will be converted into dedicated art and science labs.

Once complete, this new, comprehensive rebuild will result in the consolidation of two elementary schools, Highlands Elementary and Pine Estates Elementary, into a unified campus with a capacity to accommodate 775 to 900 students.

CPPI is deeply honored to have been entrusted with the responsibility of constructing this new campus, further enhancing the quality of education in the Jacksonville community. With our commitment to excellence, innovation, and community collaboration, we are dedicated to delivering a superior educational facility that will support the growth and development of young minds.

“This project exemplifies CPPI’s ongoing dedication to educational advancement and our strong partnership with Duval County Public Schools,” said Ryan Taylor, Vice President/Regional Manager at CPPI. “We are excited to embark on this journey, knowing that the enhanced facilities will provide an optimal learning environment for students and teachers alike.”

The Highlands Elementary School Campus Renewal project represents a significant investment in the future of education, fostering a nurturing and inspiring space where students can thrive and succeed. CPPI is proud to contribute to the continued growth and progress of the Jacksonville community.
