An Anniversary of Note: The Refuge – A Healing Place

Ocklawaha, Fla. – It’s coming up on two years since Charles Perry Partners Inc. (CPPI) completed Acadia Healthcare’s The Refuge – A Healing Place. The Refuge is a premier facility that treats adults with depression, PTSD, addiction, eating disorders, and co‑occurring disorders.

The Healing Place addition was created to assist The Refuge in housing patients while they are undergoing detox treatment, prior to their transition to the property’s standard cabin housing. The building houses four doctors’ offices, two counseling offices, two exam rooms, one lab room, one massage room, one quiet room, one noisy activity room, six patient rooms, a staff break room, a nurses station, and three medical dispensing counters with a waiting area.

Seeking treatment for trauma, addiction, and mental and behavioral health concerns is more important than ever as the global population endures the coronavirus pandemic. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic may be stressful for people. Fear and anxiety about a new disease and what could happen can be overwhelming and cause strong emotions in adults and children. People with pre-existing mental health conditions or substance use disorders may be particularly vulnerable in an emergency.”

CPPI constructed the Healing Place detox facility with special considerations for trauma patients who may be experiencing emotional or psychological distress. Specialty fixtures and security screws were installed throughout all patient areas to ensure patient safety at all times. The building was constructed with structural metal framing and steel construction on a monolithic slab foundation.
