CPPI Celebrates Groundbreaking of HCA Florida Gainesville Emergency and Hospital
Gainesville, Fla. – HCA Florida Healthcare, Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI), and members of the community celebrated the groundbreaking of the new HCA Florida Gainesville Emergency and Hospital campus on Thursday.
A two-phase project managed by CPPI, construction will now commence on the 10,860-square-foot, single-story emergency room. The facility will contain exam rooms, a pharmacy, a resuscitation (trauma) room, imaging, offices, a lab, and associated support spaces.
In phase two, a new 90-bed hospital will be constructed to connect to the freestanding emergency room and provide a vast array of services spread across more than 195,000 square feet. That facility will consist of four stories with structure in place to support the expansion of two additional levels in the future. The first floor will contain surgery and diagnostics spaces and various support services to support the hospital, while the second floor will contain a 30-bed rehabilitation unit. The third floor will house 24 medical/surgical units, six intensive care units, and a respiratory therapy space. The remaining 30 medical/surgical unit beds will be on the fourth floor. Support work will include creating more than 500 parking spaces and a mechanical penthouse of nearly 3,000 square feet. CPPI is partnered with HKS Architects, Inc. on the project.
The groundbreaking ceremony also marked HCA Florida North Florida Hospital’s 50th anniversary in the Gainesville community. CPPI began its long-standing relationship with HCA Healthcare in Gainesville more than 30 years ago with the construction of a parking garage serving the Women’s Center in the heart of the North Florida Hospital campus, formerly known as North Florida Regional Medical Center. The firm has since completed more than 30 projects for HCA Healthcare in the community. In recent years, CPPI completed a four-story expansion of the hospital’s south patient tower and a new 846-space parking garage on campus.
