CPPI & Miller Electric Celebrate Successful Electrical Shutdown at North Florida Regional Medical Center

Gainesville, Fla. – Last week at North Florida Regional Medical Center (NFRMC), months of planning resulted in a flawlessly-executed electrical shutdown to tie in the emergency and equipment electrical system for the three new floors of the South Tower Expansion. A huge shout out goes to the hard-working team from Miller Electric Company for preparing to pull the feeders for the new equipment, and critical power for the new tower. All of the panel breakers were properly locked out and tagged out as well. This work included bringing in and setting up two semi-truck mounted 125 Meg generators, and two 100 KVA trailer-mounted generators – changing over some emergency to normal power and some temp wiring for the IT equipment. Before the start of the outage, Miller Electric’s Supervisor, Mike Walker, and CPPI’s Senior Superintendent, Winfield Scott, made sure each nurses’ station on the floor knew the plan, and what was to be expected during the outage. They continually re-checked each floor throughout the outage, making sure everyone was doing okay and everything was running smoothly.

Winfield, along with Superintendent Jason Nettle, want to share a huge thanks to the entire CPPI, Miller Electric Company and NFRMC team for a job well done, showing true Commitment to Excellence and Teamwork. Way to go, Team!

NFRMC, a member of the HCA Healthcare Network, currently serves as a 432-bed, full-service medical and surgical acute care center. Once complete, the South Tower Expansion will add three additional floors and 78 beds in the form of an Intensive Care Unit, a Postpartum Unit, and a Medical/Surgical Unit. This $90 million project will contribute toward enhancing patients’ medical experience, and will add more than 250 jobs to the North Central Florida community.
