CPPI awarded Savannah-Chatham County Public School System New Hampstead K-8 School contract
Savannah, Ga. – CPPI was awarded Savannah-Chatham County Public School System’s New Hampstead K-8 School contract last week. The 175,000 square foot school project will involve the construction of three buildings, site improvements, and a connector road to New Hampstead High School, located on the same property.
The New Hampstead K-8 School is expected to have 92 classrooms and accommodate 1,500 students. The new school will alleviate overcrowding from nearby Pooler, which currently has at least one school over capacity, and Georgetown, which is also growing.
Additional features of the school include a cafeteria, library, gymnasium and music rooms. Exterior project components will include three playgrounds, raised garden beds in the courtyard for gardening curriculum, and ground-mounted solar panels. The school’s parking lot will have 199 spaces.
New Hampstead K-8 was designed by Atlanta architecture firm Perkins + Will. Construction is estimated to begin in September 2019 and the project is scheduled to be completed in June 2021, in anticipation of the 2021-2022 school year.
