The new Marion County Citra Fire Station No. 2 is designed to increase operational capacity while promoting a healthy and functional work environment for firefighters. This modern facility will support enhanced emergency response capabilities to better serve the growing Citra community. It replaces the former fire station located on the same property. The new station includes a 4,386-square-foot apparatus bay with three vehicle bays for storing emergency vehicles and equipment, as well as more than 3,700 square feet of living quarters to accommodate fire personnel. Additionally, the facility will feature a “Safe Haven Baby Box,” providing a secure and anonymous option for infant surrender in accordance with state law. The project is funded through the county’s voter-approved penny sales tax.
